The HOT SHIELD® Model HS-4 Respirator Housing is extremely heat & flame resistant and is designed exclusively around the Sundstrom SR-100 Half Face Respirator. This Hot Shield housing is constructed of CarbonX®, the only inherently nonflammable fabric in the world.
The HS-4 wrapped around the SR-100 has been designed by firefighters specifically for wildland firefighting, but has found application in other industries that prefer the Sundstrom SR-100 for their employees. The HS-4 CarbonX® Housing matched to the SR-100 is possibly the top of the line facial and respiratory protection option outside of a positive pressure breathing apparatus. About the Sundstrom SR-100: This half mask air-purifying respirator is a negative pressure respirator that is NIOSH approved to provide protection from certain levels of gases, vapors and /or particulates when equipped with the appropriate chemical cartridge and/or particulate filter. The respirator is designed to provide exceptional safety and comfort, even during long term use.
The Sundstrom SR-100 Half Face Respirator Mask offers the user a high degree of filtration, and allows the employer to fit test individuals (no fabric between the mask and the skin). It also boasts the easiest air exchange available in any half face respirator on the market to date.
The SR-100 is available from authorized Sundstrom Dealers in two sizes; Small/.Medium (S/M) and Medium/Large (M/L). Two exhalation valves and low breathing resistance in the filters ensure an excellent standard of comfort. The respirator body is made of silicone, which makes the mask dimensionally stable, flexible and harmless to the skin.
